Lviv Institute of banking of the University of banking of the National bank of Ukraine 

History 

If one adds age to experience and multiplies it by knowledge, he will get Lviv Institute of banking of the National bank of Ukraine. This short, justified with life formula can fully describe the educational establishment 65-years way, the educational nature of which has been inherited since the XIX century yet.

A fortune leaves a number of years for a person to live, life gives the experience but the only thing left to achieve by him is to study.  

Lviv Institute of banking of the University of banking of the National bank of Ukraine is an heir of the Accounting and Economic Technical School founded in 1940 on the basis of the Queen Jadwiga Economic Lyceum for Women that had existed since 1887. 

Lviv Institute of banking of the University of banking of the National bank of Ukraine was founded on May 10, 1940 and was named as Lviv Financial and Economic Technical School. During World War II Lviv Financial and Economic Technical School stopped its activities and renewed only on October 24, 1944. On November 5, 1948 it became to be called as Lviv Financial and Credit Technical School and complied with the Ministry of Finance of the USSR. On September 4, 1954 Lviv Financial and Economic Technical School passed to the control of the USSR State bank as the Accounting and Credit Technical School. On December 12, 1991the Technical School was released to the National Bank of Ukraine control and was named as Lviv Technical School of banking. On June 14, 1995 the educational establishment name was changed into Lviv College of banking of the National Bank of Ukraine. Lviv Institute of banking of the University of banking of the National bank of Ukraine was founded on the basis of Lviv College of banking by the decisions of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine from January 28, 2000 and the National Bank of Ukraine Board from February 17, 2000.

The Faculty of Banking and Information Technologies 

The Faculty of Banking was founded in September, 1999. Over 700 students study here. The Faculty activities are directed towards the implementation of the main conceptual bases of the institution and the educational services quality management system ISO 9001:2000, providing with the innovative approaches towards the educational process organization, forming of the faculty professionally-oriented contingent, competitive recovery of the alumnus.  

The Faculty of Banking carries out training of specialists at the educational-qualification levels of Bachelor and Master in specialities: “Economic Cybernetics” and “Banking” (full-time education).

The preparation of specialists is budgeted by the state budget, the National Bank of Ukraine, legal bodies and individuals.  

Thus, the graduates get the higher education state-recognized degrees that allow them to work successfully in the NBU structural subdivisions, banking institutions and other financial establishments. 

The best students have chance to continue their postgraduate studies in specialties: “Finances, money turnover and credit”, “Economic and mathematic modeling”.  

Main trends in the Faculty activities:

- well-defined organization of the educational process according to the credit based modular learning, upsurge of the current control results significance according to the state requirements and the Bologna Declaration principles; 
- ensuring the high scientific level of teaching, realizing working educational plans and programs to the fullest extent according to the renovated educational and methodic materials, development of the educational process technical and information support;
- the students knowledge quality control increase by means of modernization of the students knowledge evaluation rating system with the international ECTS scale implementation;
- development of the educational individualization and ensuring the effective organization of the students independent work;
- the students practical skills formation that will be useful for a banker by means of the students transparent practical studying implementation into the educational process; 
- organization of the professionally-orientation work with the enrollees to form the high-quality contingent of the Faculty;
- implementation of the educational services quality management system ISO 9001:2000;
- students motivation towards successful education, active scientific and public activities, students individual skills and self-administration development; 
- contribution to the elevation of the students social level protection.

 

There are 5 departments that operate at the Faculty of banking:

- “Banking”;
- “Economic cybernetics”;
- “Physical education”;
- “Foreign languages”;
- “Computer technologies”.

The number of scientific and pedagogical staff of the Faculty departments is 83 persons (55 persons have academic degrees, 8 persons (10%) are Doctors of Science, 47 persons (57%) – Candidates of Science). 

Scientific and pedagogical staff of the Faculty performs educational, instructional, scientific, professionally-orientation, organizational and methodic activities to form active, adventurous, communicative, socially-mature individuals.

The Faculty’s rich resources that can be used by the students are the following:
- library and electronic library;
- Information Technologies Center and Internet;
- learning-training bank;
- Halychyna credit union;
- students labor exchange;
- the students League public organization;
- students advisory board;
- BankO newspaper;
- OAZA students club;
- hostel;
- sports and fitness complex;
- first-aid post;
- sauna.

Financial and Economic Faculty 

Financial and Economic Faculty of the Lviv Institute of banking of the University of banking of the National bank of Ukraine was founded in September, 1999. The first dean of the Faculty was Tetiana Girchenko, Ph.D. in Economics. Since January, 2003 Halyna Partyn, Ph.D. in Economics, associate professor holds this position.

At present 4 departments enter into the structure of the Faculty:

- “Economic theory”;
- “Finances”;
- “Accounting and audit”;
- “Mathematics and Statistics”.

The Faculty activities are directed towards the up-to-date requirements for the economic education in contexts of the Ukrainian market economy transformation. 

The Faculty carries out training of specialists of the following educational-qualification levels

The strategic tasks of the Faculty are the realization of the Conception on the educational services quality according to the international standards (ISO 9001:2000) to improve the professional level of the preparation of specialists in finances, accounting and audit, gradual transition to the educational process organization according to the European standards in compliance with the Bologna convention requirements. This factor guarantees the fundamental nature of the preparation of specialists with the wide-range knowledge in economics, finances and audit. 

The preparation of specialists is budgeted by the state budget, the National Bank of Ukraine, legal bodies and individuals.  

Training at the Faculty is conducted in internal (19 groups) and extra-mural (13 groups) courses.

The graduates get the higher education state-recognized degrees.

The Faculty of Advanced Training and Retraining
The Faculty of Advanced Training and Retraining was founded in September 1, 1999. 

The Faculty activities are directed towards the educational services quality development in extra-mural courses, the preparation of specialists who meet the world standards and market economy demands, the implementation of the quality management system ISO 9001:2000. The educational process is organized according to the Bologna process principles.

Over 1000 students study at the Faculty.

Education got at the Faculty of Advanced Training and Retraining is, in fact, the European level education.
