Kharkiv Institute of banking of the University of banking of the National bank of Ukraine

Kharkiv Institute of banking was founded on May, 1944 as Kharkiv Accounting and Credit Technical School of the USSR State bank. Since the year 1991 it had become the National Bank of Ukraine property and subhead. 

On May, 2004 the Kharkiv subsidiary bank of the Ukrainian Academy of banking that in its turn became an heir of the Kharkiv College received the status of the Kharkiv Institute of banking of the Ukrainian Academy of banking of the National Bank of Ukraine. 

The University of banking that comprised the National Bank of Ukraine educational establishments including Kharkiv Institute of banking was founded on the authority of the Decision of the Cabinet of Ministers and the Decree of the National Bank of Ukraine Board of Directors.  

In the course of its existence Kharkiv Institute of banking had prepared about 37 thousands of specialists. The well-know Ukrainian bank leaders, the banking business managers, professionals who hold different positions in the system of the National Bank of Ukraine, commercial banks and its subsidiaries are among the graduates of Kharkiv Institute of banking. 

Today Kharkiv Institute of banking is a multifunctional, highly professional, competitive high educational establishment that is considered to be the actual local leader in preparation of specialists in banking and finance.

The Institute carries out educational activities, provides the graduates with higher complete education in such basic directions: “Accounting and Audit”, “Finances and Credit” including specialization “Banking”, the branch of knowledge “Economics and Enterprise” at the educational-qualification levels of Bachelor, Specialist and Master. All the specialties are of the II, III and IV accreditation levels.  

According to the letter of the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine the educational institution is allowed to carry out external educational form in “Economics and Enterprise” by specialty “Banking” at the educational-qualification level of Bachelor and “Banking”, “Accounting and Audit” at the educational-qualification level of Specialist.

The educational establishment has the license to the educational activities connected with the entrance preparation. 

Training of specialists is carrying out in internal, external and extra-mural (evening) courses.

The following structural subdivisions ensure training and retraining of specialists:
- Faculty of banking;
- Economic Faculty;
- 7 Departments;
- Instructional and methodic division;
- library with a reading hall.

The professional and humane preparation of students is carrying out by 7 Departments: social and humanitarian disciplines, foreign languages, higher mathematics and computer technologies, economic theory, banking, accounting and audit, finances. 

A great attention is paid to the practical training of students. There are several kinds of practice at the Institute: teaching practice, practical training, externship, scientific practice and student teaching. 

At present the Institute has bilateral agreements on cooperation with 13 banks and enterprises and conducts practice with 50 banking institutions and enterprises. Since 2001 the Institute – the only one out of the higher educational establishments – has become the official member of the Kharkiv Banking Union, and since 2003 Oleksandr Trydid, director, has been elected to the Kharkiv Banking Union presidium body.  

Around 96 scientific and pedagogical workers are involved into the educational process, 50% of them have scientific degrees of candidates and doctors of science.  

A significant and continuative attention is paid towards the implementation of the informational technologies into the educational process and management activities.
